Know Before You Go

  • Bring enough warm cloths and Hiking boots during the trek.
  • We will have to walk on up and downhill on an uneven trail every day with your 4-5 kilos load day backpack. So Please Prepare yourself.
  • We highly recommend carrying a reusable water bottle. You can fill the safe drinking water in lodges or can use an inbuilt filtration system like Life Straw or Steripen.
  • Wi-fi is available at all teahouses along the trekking route to Poonhill. Normally you must pay an extra charge for using their Wi-Fi hotspot.
  • Bring enough cash (20-25 USD) for your personal expenses.

Our journey to Ghorepani Poon hill trek starts with an exciting drive to Pokhara. The drive is pleasant with beautiful countryside, a snowy peak, and a roaring river. Driving through several green hills, huts, and village will give you excitement but the road condition is not good everywhere.

After 6 hours of drive, we are reaching the beautiful lake city Pokhara, and you can spend your free time boating on Lake or wander around Lakeside.

After having breakfast in Lake City, Pokhara, we will drive to Banthanti, which is the starting point of our Ghorapani trek. Along the way, we will drive through Nayapool, a small town and Birethanti, where we will need to check our permits and TIMS. From there, we will continue our drive to Banthanti. From Banthanti, we start our hike to Ghorepani through the dense Rhodonderna and pine forest.

Ghorepani, which is mostly inhabited by the Magar ethnicity, is an intriguing place with small shops and stalls that sell local products. It is one of the most famous and best places for trekkers in the Annapurna region, as it offers a stunning view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges.

We will wake up early in the morning, one hour before sunrise, and start our hike to Poon Hill.Poon Hill is the crown jewel of this trek, offering magnificent views of the sunrise as well as panoramic views of Mt. Dhaulagiri I (8167m), Annapurna I (8091m), Tukuche, Nilgiri (6940m), Hiunchuli (6441m), Tarke Kang (7193m), and Machapuchre (6997m).

The breathtaking scenery will leave you spellbound and elevate you to a heavenly realm. Once we have taken in the mesmerizing views, we will trek back to our lodge, prepare our backpacks, have breakfast, and continue our trek to Tadapani. We will head east and ascend a nearby ridge (Gurung Hill), then descend through the rhododendron forest, pass by spectacular waterfalls, and finally reach Tadapani.

Today is the last day of our trek, after breakfast in the morning, we will tart our trek by descending through a dense and dark forest. This leg of the trek will take us through a thick forest of ancient rhododendron trees and various other flowers.

After three hours of hiking through the forest and crossing several small streams, we will arrive at the village of Ghandruk, a sloping settlement primarily inhabited by the Gurung people. We can take a break and have lunch in Ghandruk village while enjoying the breathtaking mountain views.

Following lunch, we will hike to the Jeep station and drive back to Pokhara. In Pokhara, we can spend the evening hanging out by the lakeside, enjoy our farewell dinner.
